In this paper, we simulate the possibility of improving the luminance of an aerial image by combining two transparent spheres with Aerial Imaging by Retro-Reflection (AIRR). The configuration of AIRR requires a light source, a beam splitter, and a retro-reflector. In this method, two same transparent spheres are placed plane-symmetrically with respect to the beam splitter. The transparent sphere acts as a ball lens, allowing more light from the light source to enter the retro-reflector than conventional AIRR. As a result, the luminance of the aerial image is improved. |
