Viewing area expansion method for 3D display using a liquid crystal active parallax barrier with the same specifications as the image display liquid crystal panel

(in English) To realize low-cost active parallax barrier, we propose autostereoscopic 3D display (Two-views) that uses a liquid crystal panel with the same specifications as the image display panel as the active parallax barrier. The minimum control unit of the parallax barrier is one sub-pixel. In order to maintain the advantage of the slanted parallax barrier, a step shape was adopted for the barrier and the binocular image shape, and the pitch of the binocular image was cycled to achieve the ideal pitch. Furthermore, by using the optimal pitch control for the observation distance, the ideal tracking for the distance variation was realized.
