AR head-mounted display using aspherical phase plates to mitigate visual fatigue

(in English) Augmented reality (AR) technology is expected to be applied in various fields, such as, medical, industrial, entertainment fields. AR technology is known to cause visual fatigue due to the vergence–accommodation conflict. We have previously proposed the use of aspherical phase plates for a 3D glasses and a head-mounted display (HMD) to reduce the visual fatigue. In this study, we also apply the aspheric phase plates to the AR HMD. We designed and fabricated the AR HMD based on the proposed technique, and the retinal images obtained by the fabricated HMD were evaluated.
