In this study, we fabricated a polarization-analyzing CMOS image sensor for sensitive polarization modulation detection. Although the image sensor with on-pixel polarizers can image the incident polarization collectively, its sensitivity to a weak polarization change is not high. With the proposed method, an external polarizer is used to enhance the polarization modulation sensitivity with a polarization image sensor. We evaluated the performance of this highly sensitive polarization image sensor and imaging experiments using a flow channel. |
