Application of radial point spread function to hologram acceleration method

(in English) Holograms can be computed by superimposing a point spread function (PSF), which represents the distribution of light on the hologram plane. However, holograms are computationally expensive and it is still difficult to calculate them at the video rate in high-definition holographic displays. Holographic displays with a fixed eye position, such as holographic head-mounted displays (HMDs), have a reduced spatial bandwidth product because the eye position is fixed. In the case of fixed-eye-position holograms, by calculating the distribution of a portion of the entire PSF, a reconstructed image with almost the same image quality and depth of focus as the one using the entire PSF can be obtained. In this study, we aim to speed up the hologram calculation for implementation in HMDs. In this study, we devised a blocking radial PSF. This PSF is applied to hologram acceleration methods to achieve further speed-up.
