Experimental Study on Phase Noise Improvement of 2nd-Harmonic Feedback Oscillator Using Active Ring Resonator

(in English) In this study, we propose a low phase noise 2nd-harmonic feedback oscillator. The proposed oscillator integrates an active ring resonator and fundamental feedback amplifier. The active ring resonator consists of two negative-resistance circuits and a two-wavelength ring resonator designed at the fundamental frequency. As the Q-factor and output power can be improved by using the active ring resonator, low phase noise is achieved. Furthermore, by using the ring resonator, the high-order harmonic signals is extracted easily. The phase noise characteristics of the proposed oscillator were experimentally verified using the prototype.
