Evaluation and analysis of the crosstalk between adjacent pixels with narrow pixel pitches of one-dimensional LC devices

(in English) We aim 1 μm pixel-pitch FLC (Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal) devices for achieving the wide-viewing holographic images. We fabricated 1-10 μm pixel-pitch one-dimensional FLC devices and evaluated the first-order diffraction efficiency with amplitude and phase modulation alternately, because the holographic images are reconstructed by the first-order diffracted light. Both efficiencies decreased for the pixel pitch from 10 to 1 μm. We showed that one of the causes for decreasing the efficiencies with narrow pixel pitches was the crosstalk and blur between adjacent pixels using the electric potential simulation. It is effective to thin down the FLC layer to control the crosstalk.
