We demonstrated a new transparent display consisting of an optically switchable transparent liquid crystal and UV/Visible projector. Transparent liquid crystal by 10cm x 10cm proved the concept of optical switching between the transparent state and the screen state. Optical switching was achieved through trans-cis photoisomerization of azobenzene in the liquid crystal mixture. Furthermore, we improved screen reflectance by increasing the helical twisting power difference between the trans and cis states. |
