Design of Spatial Light Modulator for Holographic AR Glasses

(in English) We have been developing spatial light modulators (SLMs) with a narrow pixel pitch and multiple pixels to improve the quality of holographic displays. In this study, we investigated the performance of SLMs required for holographic AR/VR devices, for which research and development has recently become more active. First, the requirements for the pixel pitch and the number of pixels of the SLM are discussed considering the field of view and the eye box. Then, the effects of the performance of the SLM, such as the number of pixels, grayscales, and frame rates, on the quality of the reconstructed image are investigated using simulations.
