This paper proposes a 3D display with a long popping-up distance and wide range of viewing distance for road signs by using Arc 3D display. For the use of traffic signs in highway, the popping-up distance and range of viewing distance need to be longer than several meters. However, it is difficult to realize such a long-distance pop-up image with wide range of viewing distances by conventional 3D display techniques. Arc 3D display, which generates smooth motion parallax, is possible candidate for the long-distance pop-up image because arc 3D display has a sufficient viewing area not only in the horizontal direction but also in the observation direction. In this study, we clarify the characteristic of frontal pop-up 3D image over several meters in arc 3D display. |
