Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The present study investigated the effect of binocular disparity and change size on the amount of perceived motion in depth. Several studies have shown the importance of binocular disparity and change size as cues for perceived motion in depth. However, it has not been clarified how much these cues affect the amount of perceived motion in depth. The present study consisted of two different experiments. In Experiment 1, we investigated the amount of perceived motion in depth when binocular disparity and change size were added to a single visual target. In Experiment 2, we investigated the amount of perceived motion in depth when binocular disparity and change size were added to one or both of two superimposed two visual targets of different sizes. The results indicated that the amount of perceived motion in depth was smaller than the amount of binocular disparity and size change added to the visual target, regardless of whether a single visual target was presented or two visual targets of different sizes were superimposed. These suggested that the amount of perceived motion in depth was not determined by the absolute or relative binocular disparity.
