Concurrent Color Scheme Timelines in Animation
Yuki Narayama, Kai Lenz, Kakimoto Masanori (TUT)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Nowadays, tools and methods for more efficient production are being developed and researched on a daily basis. The production of animation can be categorized into a number of processes, and in this research, we will focus on the color scheme process. In this research, we aim to visualize color schemes of characters and backgrounds, which proceed concurrently in animation, and to support production and analysis. In this method, a concurrent color scheme timeline is generated from captured images of actual animations, and visualized by narrowing down the representative colors of a scene to eight colors using the K-means method. In this study, we solved the problems of the previous studies and actually used the concurrent color scheme timeline for analysis.
