Development of 8K laparoscopic surgery system with real-time tele-advice facilities and evaluation of animal surgery experiments using live transmission of 8K video via 5G network

(in English) 8K, an ultra-high-definition video system, is expected to be utilized not only in broadcasting but also in various fields including the medical field. In this paper, the newly developed 8K laparoscopic surgery system with real-time tele-advice facilities is described. Using this system, live 8K video of laparoscopic surgery is remotely transmitted to a highly-experienced doctor via communication network including 5G, and the doctor gives advice to less-experienced doctors operating on-site. The outline of the system and the results of animal surgery experiments will be described, in which the effectiveness of the "8K real-time tele-advice" scheme of the system was evaluated.
