Effect of Co substitution concentration on various magnetic properties of (Bi1-xBax)(Fe1-yCoy)O3 multiferroic thin films and consideration on the origin of those magnetic properties

(in English) Development of Ferromagnetism / ferroelectric thin films with large saturation magnetization, perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, and magneto optical Kerr effect, were performed for realization of the ultra-low power consumption magnetic memory and spatial optical modulation element with driven by electric field. From the previous study about the effect of Co substitution on magnetic properties in (Bi1-xLax)(Fe1-yCoy)O3 thin films, in this study we fabricated the (Bi1-xBax)(Fe1-yCoy)O3 thin films with various composition and investigated their magnetic properties. The large saturation magnetization was obtained when the sum of the Ba substitution amount and the Co substitution amount was about 50-60 at%. The perpendicular magnetic anisotropy and large magneto optical Kerr effect were obtained when the Co substitution amount was about 20 at%. It was also found that in the case of Co substitution of more than 20 at%, the crystallinity deteriorates due to the large amount of substitution elements having a large ionic radius, and the magnetic properties also deteriorate accordingly. We also found that effect of Co substitution is different between Alkaline earth and Lanthanoids of A-site substitution elements in (Bi,A)(Fe,Co)O3.
