2D layered thin films heterojunction for artificial photosynthesis photocatalyst

(in English) Artificial photosynthesis is a technology that uses sunlight to convert water and carbon dioxide into hydrocarbon-based solar fuels , and is attracting attention as a technology that can contribute to global warming and energy supply issues. However, the recombination of electron-hole pairs generated in the process of photocatalysis significantly reduces the efficiency of photoelectric conversion and limits its practical application, thus requiring structural innovations to separate electron-hole pairs without recombination.
In this study, we aim to improve the photoelectric conversion efficiency and catalytic activity of the photocatalyst by heterojunction of two-dimensional layered materials g-C3N4, SnS2, and graphene in sheet form to achieve a vast junction area and to promote the separation of photogenerated charge using a strong offset of the energy gap at the junction interface.
