Modeling the luminance contrast sensitivity function in full visual field

(in English) Human spatial contrast sensitivity functions(CSFs) are useful for applications in graphics rendering, saliency analysis, and so on. In this paper, we described a function for luminance CSF which covered the whole visual field by interpolating 4 luminance CSFs in axes-aligned four eccentric directions. Those CSFs were based on previously measured luminance contrast thresholds in the superior and inferior visual fields and newly measured luminance contrast thresholds in the temporal and nasal fields. Three candidate interpolation methods were evaluated by comparing the similarity of the
synthesized functions with previous measurement data. As a result, we concluded that ellipsoidal interpolation in the Cartesian coordinate was the most desirable among the three interpolation methods.
