Aerial Display in the Style of Advertising Column Using Aerial Imaging by Retro-Reflection

(in English) The purpose of this research is to realize an aerial display viewable from all horizontal directions like advertising column by using aerial imaging by retro-reflection (AIRR). By realizing it, We tried to solve the narrow viewing angle which is a problem of the conventional aerial display. It was difficult to realize the display by connecting the optical structure based on conventional AIRR because the aerial image is interrupted and the optical system is physically overlapped. In the proposed method, by rotating the AIRR basic structure at high speed and connecting the afterimages of the aerial images by time-division display, a cylindrical aerial display viewable from all horizontal directions can be realized. It was confirmed by simulations and actual equipment that an aerial image viewable from all horizontal directions can be displayed by the proposed method.
