Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this study, we evaluated the refractive index characteristics of an optical fiber refractive index sensor with two voids fabricated in the optical fiber core using a near-infrared femtosecond laser as a function of void distance. Light leaking from the first void in the core interacts with the external space and recombines into the second void. By measuring the optical intensity of the recombined interference light, the change in refractive index of the external space was measured. Since the intensity of the interference light depends on the distance between the two voids, we fabricated sensors with different distance between the two voids and reported that the light intensity response changed depending on the distance between the voids.
