Both-Sided Aerial Display in Face-to-Face Optical System Using Slit-Shaped Retro-reflectors

(in English) We propose and develop both-side aerial display in face-to-face system for providing different aerial images in front of two people using AIRR (Aerial Imaging by Retro-Reflection) with two light sources and two slit-shaped retro-reflectors. The gap of the aerial image due to a slit-shaped retro-reflector is complemented by binocular viewing for natural imaging. In addition, by arranging the polarizer in a crossed nicol configuration in front of the light source and the observer, the undesired virtual image by the reflection of the opposite-side light source by the beam splitter can be blocked and increases the visibility of the aerial image. Thus, both aerial images can be displayed in front of the face-to-face observers while keeping eye contact each other.
