Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Contrast sensitivity functions (CSFs) are applicable to rendering wide-field of view images and saliency analysis. In our previous report, we proposed three luminance CSF models for whole visual field by three interpolation ways with CSFs in the nasal, superior, temporal, and inferior eccentricity directions. In this study, we compared the errors between those CSF models and the measured contrast thresholds in an interpolated eccentricity direction. The results showed that the linear interpolation of the two CSFs with cartesian coordinate values is inappropriate because the errors are larger than those of the other two interpolation methods. When comparing interpolations by the other two methods with CSF models in the nasal, superior, temporal, and inferior directions, it was found there are larger errors to the actual measurements. Therefore, in application use, it is necessary to set three times margin the perceptual judgement threshold than that for the nasal, superior, temporal, and inferior directions.
