Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In AR/VR, the sense of depth for the pointer itself is important because the pointer is often used to select a virtual object in 3D space. There are various cues for depth estimation, such as occlusion and relative sizes, but if the pointer is obstructed or changes in size, it becomes difficult to see the pointer itself and the pointer does not work effectively. In this study, we focus on binocular disparity that can work without changing the appearance of the pointer. Since there are real objects in AR, when the user gazes at a virtual object that is the target of depth estimation, only images of the real objects close to the gazed virtual object are fused to give a single image fused due to the sensory fusion. This may improve the accuracy of depth estimation of the virtual object. We investigate whether the limitation of depth estimation based on binocular disparity can be extended by using the sensory fusion as a cue.
