In this study, we designed a temperature sensor that operates in the subthreshold region and does not require calibration. Non-calibration operation is achieved by subtracting the outputs of two temperature sensor cores. The circuit was verified using a TSMC 65nm process, and the proposed temperature sensor performed at -1.4℃ to 2.0℃ in the temperature range of -40 to 80℃. When the power supply voltage is 1.2V, the power consumption at room temperature is 600nW. Furthermore, with a view to application to image sensors, we investigated a circuit configuration using a single-slope ADC. Although two-point calibration is required in conventional circuit configurations, we also propose a correction method to reduce the calibration to one point. When using a single-slope ADC, the performance of the proposed temperature sensor was -0.69℃ to 1.09℃ in the temperature range of -40 to 125℃. |
