In this study, we investigated the relationship between the effects of eye contrast and lip color on the perception of facial skin lightness and fixation locations. Stimulus images with varying eye contrast and lip color were presented to observers while they gazed at their eyes or lips. They were asked to evaluate the lightness of the facial skin. In the results, the higher the contrast of the eyes when the gazing area was the eyes, and the redder the lip when the gazing area was the lip, the lighter the skin was perceived to be, suggesting that the luminance and color of the gazing local area modulate the perceived lightness of the face. |
