Prototype Evaluation of Rear-Feed Log-Periodic Antenna Integrated with Microstrip-Line Feed Circuit

In this study, a rear-feed log-periodic antenna integrated with a microstrip-line feed circuit is proposed. As conventional planar log-periodic antennas have a feed point at the tip of the antenna, semi-rigid cables or L-shaped connectors are required to feed the antenna from its rear. The proposed antenna achieves rear feed using an integrated microstrip-line feed circuit, which eliminates such components. So far, we have reported the characteristics of the proposed antenna analyzed and evaluated by using electromagnetic simulation. It was confirmed that the proposed antenna has broadband characteristics and unidirectional radiation pattern similar to conventional log-periodic antennas. In this paper, a prototype of the proposed antenna is fabricated, and its measured results are evaluated. Good reflection characteristics and radiation patterns are obtained from 2 to 6 GHz. |
