Measurement of stereo threshold using a handheld game console

To measure stereo acuity more finely than Randot stereo test, we conducted the experiment using a handheld game console (New Nintendo 3DS LL) enabling an auto-stereoscopic display. Seventy students participated in the experiment. The stimuli were four pairs of hexagonal dots consisting of one central dot and six surrounding dots. The task was to respond a hexagon whose center dot appeared nearer than others. There was a highly correlation between the stereo thresholds measured by Randot stereo test and those of our test. While the thresholds ranged from 20 to 400 arcsec in Randot test, the ranges were extended from 8 to 1650 arcsec in our method. |
