When creating binocular stereoscopic images using live-action or computer graphics, there are two types of shooting methods: the crossing method and the parallel method. In the cross method, the amount of solidity can be varied depending on the camera interval and the position of the intersection of the optical axes, but the image tends to be distorted. The parallel method can easily produce a distortion-free image at infinity, but it requires a combination of conditions such as camera spacing, angle of view, and pupil distance of the observer. Although both methods have their advantages and disadvantages, a comparison was made to see if there is any difference in depth distance between the crossed and parallel methods when working at close range with a foreground or background. The experimental results showed that regardless of the position of the foreground/background, the crossed-over method tended to compress the perceived depth. |
