This study aims to develop a VR system that enables an emotional reunion with deceased loved ones through multisensory experiences. In this experiment, we conducted a preliminary study focusing on olfactory and haptic stimuli to validate the research direction. We investigated how these stimuli influence immersion and memory recall in a VR environment. The results suggest that olfaction effectively triggers memories, while haptic feedback enhances realism. This study serves as an initial step toward achieving emotional reunions, and future research will explore bereavement-related experiences to further clarify the underlying mechanisms. |
