An Experimental Study on Optimizing Road Layout with Desired Silhouette based on Identifying Bottlenecks of Congestion

(in English) In computer graphics, many studies have been conducted on modeling virtual cities. However, these studies do not consider traffic efficiency, leading to generated road networks that may cause congestion. To address this issue, this study aims to develop a method for identifying congested segments in road networks with a desired silhouette and optimizing the road layout to alleviate congestion. We identify congested segments in road networks generated by previous methods by computing betweenness centrality. We then reduce congestion by adding new roads around the identified congested segments. In this paper, we evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed method in alleviating congestion using a traffic simulator and report our findings.
