Proposal of a Cognitive Self-Assessment Support Service for the Elderly Using Meal Records

With the rapid aging of the population, early detection of cognitive decline—especially in recent memory—is becoming an increasingly important challenge.
This study proposes and implements “MemoMeal,” a service that naturally supports older adults in reflecting on their memory status through daily meal logging and quiz-based recall.
The system builds upon a previous LINE-based quiz service, extending it to a web-based interface to allow more flexible participation.
To address remaining issues such as limited visibility of response status, lack of insight into lifestyle–memory relationships, and insufficient contextual feedback, MemoMeal introduces additional features including feedback messages after input submission, condition-based result filtering, and automatically generated monthly reports.
A three-week trial conducted by the developer indicates that the system helps raise awareness of the relationship between memory and daily life, and supports ongoing and accessible self-reflection. |
