Reconfigurable Reflectarray with Mechanical Rotation for Switchable Reflection Phase Distributions

This paper investigates a reconfigurable reflectarray capable of switching reflection phase distributions by mechanical rotation. The proposed reflectarray consists of two substrate layers, one of which is rotated in 60-degree steps to change the coupling conditions between reflective elements and generate desired reflection phase distributions. Using this method, six reflection phase distributions are realized, including three arbitrary distributions and their symmetric counterparts. The reflectarray is designed to operate at 12 GHz. Its performance is evaluated through full-wave electromagnetic simulations, fabrication of a prototype, and experimental measurements to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach. |
