Laboratory Verification of Transmitting Station Identification Code for ISDB-T3

ISDB-T3 is scheduled for revision in March 2026 to incorporate new optional features, one of which is Transmitting Station Identification Code (TSIC). TSIC enables the identification of individual transmitting stations by multiplexing a unique code with broadcast signals. This feature is expected to be utilized during transmission frequency repacking and in three other use cases. This paper proposes a method for transmitting TSIC by encoding it with a pseudo-random signal, applying OFDM modulation, and performing time-division multiplexing within the extended frame of ISDB-T3. Laboratory experiments were conducted to evaluate the transmission performance of the proposed method. The results demonstrate that TSIC can identify both the main transmitting station and interfering stations in co-channel interference environments. Furthermore, TSIC can be used for channel estimation of each transmitting station in SFN environments. |
