A Study on Differences in Gaze Movements by Skill Level in VALORANT

This study investigates the relationship between player expertise and gaze behavior in the FPS game VALORANT. Eye-tracking data were collected during gameplay and synchronized with recorded game footage. The analysis focused on UI recognition rates, gaze behavior during enemy encounters, and gaze distribution before each round. Although statistically significant differences were limited, effect sizes and heatmap tendencies suggested that experienced players efficiently utilize persistent UI information, while novices exhibit more dispersed gaze patterns. The findings contribute to understanding attention strategies in FPS games and provide insights for gaze-based training support systems. |
