Preliminary study on interactive extraction of pancreases from abdominal CT images using self-organizing map

(in English) In this report, we propose an interactive extraction method of pancreas regions in abdominal CT images using a self-organizing map (SOM). In the learning phase, a patch is set to each pixel in the CT images to generate an input vector, which are fed to a SOM. In the prediction phase, first, seed regions are manually set to pancreas regions in the CT images. Then, the same input vectors are fed to the SOM again. If the input vector of a pixel is assigned to one of the SOM nodes corresponding to the pixels in the pancreas regions, the pixel is labeled as being in the pancreas regions. An experimental result is shown in the report.
